Marnardal muncipality has approximately 2.500 inhabitants and covers a area of 394,8 km2. The district lies directly north of Mandal, and the Mandalselva, to which the fish are returning, runs directly through the district. Marnardal has good communications, since the trains on Sørlandsbanen stop here several times a day. The district is rich in beautiful countryside and forest animals in their natural environment.

MANDAL and OPPLAND MUSEUM

Open-air museum, farmyard with three old buildings, "Mjålandsstova", storehouse and cow shed. The "Mjålandsstova" is a variant of the "Mandalske stueform", the so-called "Mandal cottage". The second noor houses the only preserved rose painted farmer's room in Vest-Agder.

DALEVEIEN

Daleveien between Øyslebø and Holum has been restored more or less to its original condition when it was built in the 1860s. The road is open to motorised traffic, but walking or cycling is recommended. Various appliances connected with salmon fishing can be seen along the road. The road is now protected as a monument to the road builders of earlier times who with the aid of sledgehammers and drills, practically carved the road out of the mountain.

HØGTUN

Located at Øslebø. Former people's college and junior high school with boarding facilities. Now an activity centre with emphasis on home crafts. Sales outlet for home crafts and art exhibitions. Also serves as the community cultural centre and hosts a number of activities. Smithy and collection of agricultural tools.

Old courtroom, collection of artefacts, textiles, costumes and coins.

LAUDAL MUSEUM

Local museum with collection Or objects from homes, schools and working life in Laudal. Located at the Folkebiblioteket (public library) at Laudal school.

FISHING

Fishing in the Mandalselva river. Salmon. 1 July - 15 September. NOK 5O a day. Fishing permits sold at the Tourist Information Office, Mandal Sport and at petrol stations / shops along the river. A number of lakes offer excellent fishing opportunities.
