Naustdal municipality have approxemately 2.670 inhabitants and cover an area of 368,7 km2. The highest peak is Blåfjellet, 1.390 metres above sea level. Some 280 km2 of the total area are situated higher rhan 300 metres above sea level, comprising 30 fishing lakes and rivers of varying sizes. Agriculture is the main income, but public services offer numerous place of work as well. The municipality of Naustdal stretches from Vevring in the west, eastwards along Førdefjorden to Naustdal, the centre of local government, and further north-eastwards along Naustdalen to the mountainous area around the Vona lake.
Naustdal offers a varied scenery of fjords and high mountains, rivers and valleys. The famous salmon river of Nausta winding more or less through the valley towards the fjord, the mountain with old summer clairies, rivers, fishing lakes and a steadily increasing stock of deer. Then there are the Vona mountains, the Naustdal-Gjengedal region, one of the biggest mountain areas in the county still untouched, comprising among other things a stock of wild reindeer. THE AIR COMBAT MUSEUM
The museum aim to inform and remind us of the air combats over Sunnfjord 9th February 1945. In the museum ther are objects from the battles, aeroplane parts, maps and photographs. It has a rich collection of splendid model aeroplanes from the navigator Bernard Nicholl, who participated in the battles.

At Russenes on the Førde fjord, 15 km west from Naustdal centre, lies an arranged outdoor activity area with 1,5 km of beach. There are signposted footpaths with information boards about cultural history, vegetation and animal life.
Close beside Naustdal centre they have built an excellent outdoor activities area Naustal Sanden, with 1,5 km of beach for fishing, walking and enjoying the scenery. Bathing beach, diving board, small boats harbour with visitor quay and beach volleyball court.
FISHING
The famous salmon river of Nausta winding more or less through the valley towards the fjord, the mountain with old summer clairies, rivers, fishing lakes and a steadily increasing stock of deer. At the old bridge at the waterfall Naustdalfossen, near Naustdal´s centre you can watch the salmon go up to the waterfall, and at the same time experience the anglers fighting to land the large catch.
