Vaksdal municipality has approximately 4.500 inhabitants and covers a area of 715,6 km2. Dale is the centre of Vaksdal. Other places Vaksdal is Stanghelle, Stamnes and Matre. It has a railway station with connection to Voss and Bergen. A shopping centre lies about 1 km from the coast and has general stores, an ironmonger, clothing businesses, post office, bank, doctor and dentist. Rope Access via Kallestad Strait bridge over Veafjord. Both the E16 and the Bergen Railway passes through Vaksdal and Vaksdal station.
