VALDRES FOLK MUSEUM

Valdres Folkemuseum was founded 1901. The first house in the collections was rebuilt in 1906 on a 3000 m2 lot in the centre of Fagernes. In 1917 the museum moved to the peninsula Storøya near Fagernes, where the museum had bought a 18500 m2 lot. In 1950 the museum rented much of the area on peninsula Storøya, and today the museum has more than 10 km2 at it’s disposal. The museum contents 95 houses and constructions, around 20.000 items and is the fourth largest open air museum of Norway.
