ALGEA HORSETAILS CALAMITES
Passing through North Norway's longest tunnel - 8 km. Immediately coming out of the tunnel, you will experience a panoramic view, as well as a good road side resting place.
Gunn Harbitz (the artist) explains the title Algea Horsetails Calamites in the following way:
The development from the first forms of life - the sea algea - to the calamites of perm age and the present horsetails has been gong on for millions of years, a wondering at the interminable lapse of time and the hardness of the horsetails, close to the arctic envionment, constitutes the basic of theme of the exposition.
The surface structure of the sculptures shows enlarged fossil imprints of the three familiar plants.
