THE BRIDGE

Torghatten lies only 15 kilometres away from Brønnøysund. You cross the Brønnøysund Bridge to the island Torget, which was a centre of power in the Viking Era. There is a good track leading to the hole (approximately 20 min. on foot).

For hundreds of years Torghatten has been visited by kings, emperors and tourists. Tradition has it that the hole in Torghatten was made by an arrow from Hestmannen - the "Horse-man". The Saga also narrate how the many mountains along our coast came to be. The hole in Torghatten is 160 metres long, 35 metres high and 15-20 metres wide. You are sure to be awed by the relentless forces of nature that have been at work for thousands of years.
