LILLESAND

In addition to being famous for its architecture, Lillesand is also known for its displays of flowers in the summer. About 700 people live in the old town centre. On the way to Kokkenes you can find the town's oldest house, "Sandra Svendsens hus". It was built in 1723 by a sailor, Søren Berntsen.

The customs house was probably built in the 1730's and was first used as a customs house in 1834. The house with the mansard roof across the street - next to the "Grand Hotel" - was the customs officer's offcial residence. The customs house is now listed.
