 Astrid Smeplass

Astrid Smeplass born in Rennebu, better known under her stage name Astrid is a Norwegian singer and songwriter who came fifth in Idol 2013.

Astrid is the first Norwegian solo artist who sings on a Billboard top two albums since 1997. Astrid is only guest vocalist on the debut album "Air" from the Canadian Shawn Mendes.

Smeplass went on fotballinja by Orkdal high school in Orkdal. She is one of only six participants who never got "bottom three" Positioning in Idol before elimination. She also performed during Idol Gives Back, where she sang a duet with Kurt Nilsen. Her self-composed song, "Shattered", written by herself, Lars K. Hushoft and Melanie Fontana went gold in a week and is the most popular song made among the five finalists.

At an early age began Astrid with music. Already when she was 6 years she began taking piano lessons. She was 7 years old when she started in Rennebu Skolekorps, where she played the flute. Later she took singing lessons. In 2013 she bought a guitar, and is self-taught. Astrid was an active participant in UKM, and sang a lot around the local community.

Astrid was his best friend in Celine HELGEMO song "Bæstevænna" Eurovision. In 2008 won the Astrid Drømmestippendet from Norwegian Tipping for her version of "All By Myself" where she both sings and plays piano.

In 2013 was nominated for the Astrid "Newcomer of the Year" and "Year artist" at NRJ-Awards. The same year she was nominated for "Year Sommerlåt" which she also won. In 2014, she has so far been nominated for "The most promising artist" in Adresseavisen UtAwards.
