 Geitungen Lighthouse

Geitungen Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Karmøy. At the northern opening of Skudenesfjord, on a small island off the southern tip of Karmøy island near the harbor of Skudeneshavn, one finds the white column and red lantern roof of Geitungen Lighthouse. The lighthouse is about 1 km offshore from Karmøy and 3 km southwest of Skudeneshavn harbor entrance. First lit in 1924 and automated since 1994, Geitungen stands 11.2 meters. It is now protected under the Cultural Heritage Act. The lighthouse has been renovated and is available for overnight accomodations.

Skudenesfjord is huge and has many arms including the Lysefjord, the site of the famous Preikestolen rock. Stavanger lies to the south and Haugesund to the north.
