 Espen Øino

Having completed his degree in naval architecture and offshore engineering at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, Espen Øino started his professional career at the design studio of Martin Francis just as the conceptual design work started on the by now iconic and legendary Eco project (currently named Enigma). After eight years working as a consulting engineer and naval architect notably as project manager of the Eco project, Espen Øino set up his own studio in 1994.

The company is a technical and design office specializing in naval architectural and engineering related disciplines. Espen Øino International S.A.R.L. (EOI) normally undertakes the concept, preliminary and detailed design work relating to the naval architectural, space planning and styling aspects of the projects.

Espen Øino International is today located in Monaco and is considered to be one of the leading design studios of large custom motor yachts. Although EOI attaches a lot of importance to sketching, particularly in the early stages of projects, EOI produces the designs, both two- and three-dimensional, and carry out calculations with the most up-to-date software available on the market.

The company has an international profile with multi-cultural employees and a client base stretching from Asia and the Far East to the USA and Central America including Russia. Currently the studio employs 16 people. Recent deliveries include the 134 m M/Y Serene, the 85 m M/Y Solandge, the 72 m M/Y Stella Maris and the 77 m M/Y Smeralda which follows the success of the 73.3 m Silver (Rabdan) and the 73.3 m Silver Zwei (Dragonfly).

Espen Øino International currently works with two yards in Italy, Fincantieri and Viareggio Super Yachts. Following the launch of Serene, in 2014 Finacantieri will launch the 140 m Victory and they will once again produce the largest yacht to be built in Italy. Espen Øino International currently has yachts under construction in Holland, Germany, USA, Italy, Turkey and Australia.

The new Hurtigruten vessels are designed by Rolls-Royce Marine and Espen Øino. The vessels will be built by Kleven Verft and be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
