 Finnkjerka

Finnmark is the northern most county where Norway swings eastwards; wide, deep fjords and open plains characterise the landscape. It is larger than Denmark in area, but the least populated county in Norway.

By land, it borders Troms to the west, Finland (Lapland region) to the south, and Russia (Murmansk Oblast) to the east, and by water, the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean) to the northwest, and the Barents Sea (Arctic Ocean) to the north and northeast.

Situated at the northernmost part of continental Europe, where the Norwegian coastline swings eastward, Finnmark has always been an area where East meets West, in culture as well as in nature and geography. Vardø, the easternmost municipality in Norway, is located farther east than the cities of St. Petersburg and Istanbul.

Pictures from Finnmark, taken around the coast of Varangerhalvøya. In the pictures at 2:00 and 2:15 you´ll see Ekkerøy - the home place of Renée Zellweger´s mom.

For many, North Cape is a major tourist centre; you cannot travel any farther north by car than the North Cape.

Regardless of the time of year you visit - with the mystical midnight sun, a spectacular thunderstorm or the magical Northern Lights.
