Øksfjord is the administrative centre of the municipality. It is located at the mouth of the Øksfjorden on the mainland. The area also has several glaciers. The Øksfjordjøkel glacier is the largest and perhaps the most challenging. The smaller one is Langfjordjøkel.

 Loppa Island
Loppa Island

Loppa Island has a fascinating history and rich cultural heritage from the time the island was one of the most important trade harbours along the coast. The harbour is now home to a fishing fleet and caters for the express boat service.

Fertile Loppa is called "the green island", and is an exceptionally beautiful place with steep mountains, colourful meadows of wild flowers and chalk-white beaches. The island offers unforgettable outdoor pursuits, activities, bird safaris, hunting and fishing.
