The main island of Frøya is connected to neighboring Hitra by the Frøya Tunnel which goes under the Frøyfjorden. The tunnel is the world´s deepest tunnel.

Espenes The largest villages on the Frøya are Sistranda in the east and Titran in the west. The village of Sistranda is the administrative center. Other villages include Hammarvika, Titran, Sula, and Mausund.

SalMar is Norway’s third largest producers of Atlantic salmon. SalMar has gone from a single company with one licence for the production of farmed salmon, to an international concern with 81 fish farming licences.
