Scandic´s thinking has roots that go deep into our Nordic heritage. We took the traditional Nordic "taking care of one another" attitude and developed it into a relaxed, affordable, good-quality, mid-market hotel concept. All our beliefs and the decisions we make within Scandic are based on Nordic common sense. Scandic will offer service that is accessible and affordable to the majority. It should be easy. It should be value for money. We intend to be open-minded. The way we work can be summed up as "Omtanke" - consideration for other people. You can see Omtanke in action whenever we serve our guests. It also guides our behaviour towards our colleagues and partners. In a broader sense, Omtanke means looking beyond economic issues to ethical and environmental considerations.

True to the Nordic common sense that guides our philosophy, we want to run a business that benefits everybody: the environment, society and ourselves. Of course, our main goal is economic responsibility towards Scandic and our owners. To achieve this goal we need good salesmanship – we need to do things efficiently and ethically. For society and for the environment, our ecological goal is to be the most environmentally friendly company. Our ethical responsibility is the service and safety we offer to our guests, and we therefore put a lot of effort into security and safety at our hotels. In short, Scandic aims to be a good company in a good society.

Scandic has hotels in 8 countries. Scandic enters into an agreement to acquire Rica Hotels. With the addition of 72 highly regarded hotels to its existing portfolio, Scandic further strengthens its position as the leading hotel chain in the Nordic region. Scandic´s guests will be able to choose from nearly 230 hotels throughout the Nordic region.

Every day, our 13,000 team members work with one single goal in mind, to make our guests welcome to stay with us or meet with friends or for work. As the Nordic region´s most sustainable hotel chain we´re always focused on the environment, social responsibility and accessibility. In Norway Scandic now have 86 hotels.







HILTON HOTELS

Subject to the formal finalisation of Hilton Hotels Corporation´s sale of Scandic, Scandic will no longer be a member of the Hilton Family of Hotels, and thus will not participate in the Hilton HHonors® program. However, Scandic will introduce a new customer loyalty programme.

Both the Hilton name and the family is Norwegian. August Hilton, the father of Conrad Hilton, was born in Norway, at Hilton Farm in Kløfta.




BUSINESS

During Scandic´s 40-year history, our business concept has changed a few times, usually in order to keep up to date, but its content and message have remained consistent from the start. The difference today is that we offer services to everybody, not only to motorists, while at the same time we have increased the focus on our Nordic heritage.




MEETING

Thousands of people hold their meetings with us in an atmosphere geared to bringing out the best ideas. Try our new concept, we can make life easier with our all-in-one package. As part of the MEETING concept we bring you new and inspiring meeting rooms, we call them Think Tank. The rooms are designed to create a relaxed atmosphere, stimulating creativity. Try them and you´ll discover how much an inspiring environment improves the productivity of a meeting.




EASY ACCESS

Scandic is the first hotel chain in the Nordic area to offer High Speed Internet Access at NO EXTRA CHARGE. All conference spaces as well as several rooms in all categories will be covered by High Speed Internet Access.




BONUS CHEQUE

Cut the price of hotel accommodation and keep to a sustainable budget. Buy a book of 12 Bonus Cheques at a very reasonable price. Each cheque is valid for one overnight stay in a single room, including breakfast, any day of the week. Either use them yourself or share them with colleagues.




CHILDREN

In many ways, children are our most demanding guests. As a parent, you can be sure that the kids will enjoy their stay with us. You´ll encounter our mascot, Sigge the hedgehog, in various guises in the hotel, including in the playroom, on the kids menu and in the form of a gift when they check in.




THE SWAN

The Swan is one of the world´s toughest eco-labels to get. It is strictly not-for-profit and shows that labelled products and services meet strict environmental, functional and quality criteria.




BREAKFAST

We know how vital breakfast is for a good start to the day. That´s why we have invested in substantial breakfast buffets at all our hotels, and also offer several ecological products. Year after year, our guests give our breakfast top marks.




SAFETY & SECURITYScandic´s Safety & Security policy that "We must never jeopardise the safety of a guest or a team member" illustrates our belief that people must be the focus of our safety and security work, and that proactivity and training are key issues.




THE ECOLOGICAL ROOM

In 1995 Scandic introduced the environmental room concept. For these the materials are chosen with consideration for the environment: wood from the Nordic Region is used, wool and cotton replace synthetics, and plastics and metal are avoided. As a result, fully 97% of each room can be recycled.




CULTURE & ENTERTAINMENT
