Drammen, the capital of Buskerud. The city grew up around the Drammen River estuary, and the river formed the basis of its proud history as a seaport. Drammen have adopting the areas around the river to create recreational, cultural and residential areas and walking trails along the riverside to enjoy. Restaurants, cafes, nightclubs and shopping complexes, and other places have opened.

 Biedermeier District  
Øvre Storgate, OEvre Storgate Drammen is situated in a beautiful valley, on the shores of a wide, clean river abounding in fish. In the middle of Bragernes district is a cultural centre surrounding beautiful Drammens Theatre, the pride of Drammen.

The heart of the city is Bragernes Torg. Bragernes Torg provides the setting for numerous events.

Along the river at Bragernes, from Øvre Storgate 35 upwards, lies the so-called Biedermeier district. Some small industry existed in the area, among them a whip factory, a tobacco mill and a brewery. One of the houses served as a maternity room, another one as an apothecary.
